Mazda RX-8
The Mazda RX-8 was manufactured from 2003 to 2012. It is the successor to the RX-7 and, like its predecessors in the RX range, it is powered by the famous 1.3l Wankel rotary engine producing 142kw. This JDM wonder had a very stylish futuristic design with rear freestyle doors that open backwards, making it feel luxurious and supercar like.
It gained popularity early on due to the success of the RX-7 in the overseas market with enthusiasts lining up to get the successor to the famous rotary engine. It was light weight with enough power to push the car through the corners and to its limits. Due to its engine design the car is capable of driving at a very high RPM for long amounts of time making it not only fast but sound incredible.
It was slightly larger than the RX-7 having more space enabling rear passengers to fit. It still carried down its racing pedigree and performance over from the RX-7. The RX-8 has won 37 international motoring awards including 2003 International Engine of the Year, the 2003 Japanese Car of the Year. With many of these on the roads today we can see why this JDM goody will be around and appreciated for a long time to come.
